Last week, I was privileged to attend the first ever Periscope Summit in New York City. By the way, this was my first trip EVER to NYC, and I absolutely loved it! The vibes, the energy, the city, the people–everything about it was awesome! I can’t wait to go back.
Periscope continues to explode in growth and it’s fun to be on the forefront and feel like I’m a part of something special. Throughout my time at Periscope Summit, hanging out with different people, having fun, and building relationships, there were some things I learned that I wanted to share here. Enjoy!
There is a massive size difference between the two Alexes.
Would you ever have guessed?? Yes, this is something I consider a huge learn. In case you didn’t know, this is Alex Khan and Alex Pettitt. Both of these guys are rockstars in the Periscope space and they do such a great job sharing how to best use the platform. This goes to show you that people look different on camera when you’re primarily seeing just the face. I would have never guessed there was such a massive size difference.
It was super fun to get to meet and hang out with these two throughout the event. A big message that came from Alex Khan was, “If you’re wondering if Periscope is worth jumping into right now, think of this. Twitter invested 100 millionaire in Periscope when it first launched. Are you smarter than Twitter? I leave it up to you to decide.”
Good point, Mr. Khan.
The movers and shakers of business are using this platform.
Grant Cardone has been a mentor of mine for several years now. He’s taught me the importance of hustle, and getting the things you want out of life.
Grant was also a keynote speaker at the event. Why? Because he knows business and he has been on Periscope from the beginning–using it to explode his business and his brand. He believes it’s a tool that gives every person the ability to have their own TV show. I agree. If someone as successful as Grant Cardone sees the opportunity of live streaming, there might be something there.
Everyone has a voice.
We’re all different, special, unique, and have something to share. Almost every speaker at the event pointed this out. When someone starts to use Periscope for the first time, they ask themselves “Who would watch me? What do I have to share?” The overwhelming message has been you DO have something to share. You just have to find it. There are people sitting and waiting to hear your message. Be you. Be authentic. Let the real you shine through. That’s what people want to see.
The event was fun, and exciting. My favorite part was the relationships that were formed. Chances are you’ve been on Periscope and you love it. Now, if you’re thinking about using it for broadcasting, you have the backing of myself and all of my Periscope friends. Do it. And welcome to the party! 🙂
